- Carefully place the moisture meter rod into the root ball for a few seconds. make sure not to damage the roots. measure the moisture in the soil close to the root ball.
- Read the gage and then remove the moisture meter. if the gauge reads trocken dry, the plant requires moisture. if it reads moist the plant has sufficient moisture.
